TOUGH TIMES CALL FOR SELF CARE

I write this with utmost heartache and grief. It’s absolutely heart breaking to see so much hatred and suffering prevailing in the world. Starting from the news of a pandemic to so much more, it has been hard on all of us. People taking their own lives, the poor suffering from a lack of food & water, workers without shelter, lack of self-esteem, lack of humanity, all of this just makes my heart weep.

Every single day is a challenge for us now – a challenge to keep ourselves sane. There’s misery all around us. From the really loud and abrupt Whatsapp news videos to so much of chaos over the internet, our mind has lost its peace. I’m sure it is equally hard for each one of us to find a reason to be happy; to find hope in tomorrow. It is difficult to run away from the anxiety and the depression all of this around us is causing us. These surely are really difficult times.

But it is surely not impossible.

We are all in this together, we are a team. When I need an ear to vent myself, my family is there. My friends are there. Someone is always there. Appreciate or motivate someone today, it might just fix their day and bring a smile on their face and definitely give them hope. It is very important for us to take care of ourselves and the ones around us who need us during this difficult time. It’s not just now, but when there’s a better tomorrow, someone will still always need you.

Sometimes we just forget what’s there and not see all the things we need to be grateful for, but just because we don’t see it, it doesn’t mean it isn’t there. It’s right there, in front of you, beside you, with you, in your life and in mine.

We, as humans are more delicate than we ought to think of ourselves to be. So, nurture yourself. There was a day recently when I was feeling anxious, so one of my friends advised me this.

Here are some things that could help you relax your mind when you feel anxious.

  • Clean up your space
  • Light a candle
  • Write in a journal
  • Keep your phone away
  • Stand up Straight
  • Drink a glass of water
  • Draw/paint
  • Read a book
  • Play a musical instrument

And if you are having a happy and motivated day, make sure to talk to people and spread this glaze of positive energy.

Everything will definitely get better with kindness. Be kind and accept the kindness that’s coming your way with open arms. You are truly important and definitely make a difference in the world, never forget that. With no sure answers of a few things building up our anxiety, let’s always remember that tomorrow will bring the answers to you. All we need right now is kindness, hope and a deep breath.

PS: I’m writing after so long and it really feels great to pour out my heart into words.
