KANE JEERE MIRI KADI/CURRY
Mangalore is known for its delicious fish curries and one of these is Kane Jeere Miri Curry. It’s the perfect blend of spices you need with the soft and yummy Kane fish. Personally, Kane is one of my favourite fish.
Here’s an extremely simple recipe for you on how to make Kane Jeere Miri Curry, a Mangalorean Fish Curry.
Lady Fish/ Kane Jeere miri Curry Recipe
Ingredients
Fish
- 10 Kane/Lady Fish (Clean and cut)
For the masala:
- 8 Kumti long red chillies
- 1 1/2 tsp Jeera/cumin seeds
- 6 Peppercorns
- 1 Marble sized Tamarind
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 Medium sized Onion
- 2 Garlic cloves
Others
- 1 Small onion
- 3 tbsp Coconut oil
- 3 tbsp Coconut milk
- Salt (as per taste)
Instructions
- Grind the above ingredients into a fine paste.
- Keep a wok, add 3 tbsp coconut oil, slice a small onion and fry till it turns golden brown.
- Add the ground masala and fry well, add one cup masala water and salt to taste.
- Give a good boil for 2 minutes, add the fish along with 3 tbsp coconut milk and once it boils, switch off the gas.
- Serve hot with rice or panpales.
