Keep a wok, heat the oil, add the chopped garlic cloves and fry till light brown. Add ginger garlic paste and fry for a minute.
Add sliced onions, fry till light golden brown, simmer the flame and add chilli powder, coriander powder, jeera powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, methi seeds, ajwain and fry for a minute.
Add chicken pieces, mix well and fry for 2 minutes, add salt to taste. Add coriander leaves.
Add 1/4 cup water and cook the chicken on a slow flame, Saute now and then.
Add lime juice or vinegar or tamarind water. Garnish with coriander leaves and 1 tsp ghee on top.
Serve hot with chapatis, rotis or Naan.
